Missing Service

Employers are required to report service quarterly for their Workers who are engaged in work that is covered under the portable long service leave scheme administered by LeavePlus. Missing service occurs when Employers have not complied with this requirement.

How do I know if I am missing service?

You can identify if service is missing from your LeavePlus service record by reviewing your employment history and annual Statements of Service in the LeavePlus portal. Employers are required to report Service for their workers on quarterly returns. The returns are due on the 14th day of the month immediately following the quarterly reporting period (e.g. April to June returns are due on 14 July). We recommend that you log in to the LeavePlus portal each quarter to make sure that your Employer is recording your Service on their quarterly returns.

Your annual Statement of Service is generated each October. It contains a summary of all your Service to date and a breakdown of all the Service reported by your Employer(s) for the previous financial year. We recommend that you log in to the LeavePlus portal and check your annual Statement of Service to ensure that all your Service has been recorded correctly.

How can I recover my missing service?

There are different approaches to take when investigating missing service from your current Employer or from a previous Employer. Different documentary requirements may apply, depending on the type of Service being investigated. Expand the menus below to read more about what you will need to do next.

We recommend you speak with your Employer about any service that might be missing from them. This gives your Employer the opportunity to complete a Worker Service Confirmation form and update your record without commencing an investigation that may delay crediting your service.

If you do not feel comfortable talking to your Employer, log in to the LeavePlus portal to complete the Missing Service Investigation request.

You will need to complete a Missing Service Investigation request for each Employer that has not reported your Service.

If you are missing Apprentice and Worker service with the same Employer, you will need to complete separate requests as each investigation is handled differently.

To submit your Missing Service Investigation request, log in to the LeavePlus portal and complete the Missing Service form.

You will need to provide the following to complete your Missing Service Investigation request:

  • LeavePlus registration number

  • Personal details

  • Employer details.

You must also provide different forms of documentation depending on the type of service that is being investigated.
